Who provides Inode

Inode is published by sysinit | Wolfgang Kerschbaumer, MSc, St. Leonharder-Straße 4, 3281 Oberndorf a.d. Melk, Austria (see the imprint). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms.

Trial

Inode is free to use for 14 days from first launch, without a license key and without creating an account. After the trial, continued use requires a license.

Buying a license

Purchases are handled by Polar Software, Inc. as merchant of record; the transaction itself is governed by Polar's buyer terms, and the price shown at checkout is what you pay. After the purchase you receive a license key by email.

What the license allows

A license lets you install and use Inode on up to three Macs that you own or control. The key is yours: keep it private, and do not share, resell, or publish it. Update renewals are offered to existing customers and require a valid existing key at checkout.

Updates and renewals

A license includes every release published in the twelve months after purchase. Fixes for critical security issues may ship beyond that window. When the update year ends, every version you installed keeps working; there is no expiry and no forced upgrade. A renewal at the reduced price starts a new twelve-month update window.

Refunds

Refund requests are processed through Polar. Statutory consumer rights, including warranty and withdrawal rights under EU and Austrian law, remain unaffected by these terms. If something is wrong, write to wolfgang.kerschbaumer@sysinit.at and we will sort it out.

Intellectual property and acceptable use

The app is licensed, and the copyright stays with the publisher. You may not redistribute or sell the app or license keys, remove license or update mechanisms, or use the app to break the law. Reverse engineering is permitted only to the extent mandatory law (such as EU interoperability rules) allows it. Inode includes open-source components; their licenses and acknowledgements ship with the app.

Warranty and liability

Statutory warranty rights under Austrian law apply to the purchase. Beyond what mandatory law requires, we are liable only for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence; liability for slight negligence is excluded, except for personal injury. Inode operates on your files at your direction; file operations run through a confirmation and undo queue, and keeping backups of important data remains your responsibility. The undo queue guards against mistakes, but it is not a backup.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Austrian law. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected. If we cannot settle a dispute directly, consumers can turn to the Austrian consumer arbitration board (verbraucherschlichtung.at); we are not obliged to take part in its proceedings and decide about participation case by case.

When these terms change, the new version appears here with an updated date. Changes apply to purchases made after they take effect.
